about these guidelines

It’s important that staff, coaches, parents and other adults who come into contact with players of The 12th Player Academy, work together to ensure that we have a common understanding of our goals. We need to behave as role models, and above all else- create an environment for which the youth of the 12th Player Academy can thrive.

working with the academy

  • Our communication tool of choice for parents is an app called TeamSnap. We recommend parents download the app to keep up to date with training and game schedules, as well as important messages that may be sent out to parents. TeamSnap is accessible from the App store (iPhone users) or Google Play app (Android users).

  • Ensure that players attend training and games regularly and on time. Give adequate notice for all absences form training and games. Be honest in all dealings with coaching staff.

  • Attend all pre-arranged parent's meetings.

  • Keep the coach fully informed of any injuries or matters that may affect performance.

  • At The 12th Player Academy the safety of our players and all involved is our main priority, it is also our right to cancel any already planned activities in case our risk assessment of the training grounds and facilities or any other reasons is too significant.

  • Parents wishing to speak to a coach about any issue relating to their child please do so prior to the start of training (not before or during training).

SUPPorting your child

  • Keep the winning of games in perspective. Player development is the most important thing. Encourage and support players. Do not place an unwarranted amount of pressure on the players, including post-game discussions.

  • Parents are NOT permitted on any part of the pitch during training.

  • Do not coach players from the sidelines. Do not shout at any players (particularly your child). Leave the coaching to the coaches.

  • Advocate a healthy lifestyle that is appropriate to development.

YOUR COMMITMENT

As per the Safeguarding Children policy, all parents have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game. Our academy supports the Football Federation Australia and its Affiliated State Federation’s Codes of Conduct for spectators and Parents/Carers at all times.

I will:

  • Remain outside the field of play and behind the Designated Spectator Area (where provided)

  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour

  • Always respect the match officials’ decisions

  • Applaud effort and good play as well as success

In addition, when attending youth games I will:

  • Remember that children play for FUN

  • Let the coaches do their job and not confuse the players by telling them what to do

  • Encourage the players to respect the opposition and match officials

  • Never criticise a player for making a mistake-mistakes are part of learning!
